About

Ron Harrison, a former president of the Swampscott Arts Association, is a watercolorist and a watercolor teacher. Although he is known mainly as a marine artist, he painted in oils until he defeated his fear of trying the demands of water media. Once there, he never looked back. He has been teaching watercolor painting for nearly 9 years in Salem.

A member of the American Society of Marine Artists and a former Vice President of the International Society of Marine Painters, his works have won three times at the Marblehead Festival of the Arts, and he has ribboned at other festivals in Florida, New Hampshire and Maine.

Ron’s works, from marines to personal portraiture, can be found in homes across the nation in Florida, Montana, California, Wisconsin, Michigan, South Carolina, Virginia and several other states. A former pilot, he counts airplane portraiture among his skills.

He holds degrees from Brown University, Boston University, and a certificate in graphic arts from the New York School of Design. He served 24 years in the U.S. Navy and it’s Reserve and retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer.
